Former Teacher Convicted on Unlawful Sex Charge

A former music teacher at a Wichita high school has been convicted of unlawful sex with a student. Thirty-one-year-old Charles Edwards had been charged in April of last year. He taught vocal music at Wichita Northwest High School.

Jesuit order to pay abuse victims 6m

In one of the largest settlements in the Catholic church's sweeping sex abuse scandal, an order of priests agreed yesterday to pay 6.1 million to hundreds of Native Americans and Alaska Natives who were abused at the order's schools around the Pacific Northwest.
